This is the
story of "Nutkin"
told by we
the people at squirrel lovers for freedom from information found in several
newspaper articles
Nutkin is a nine year old
gray squirrel, rescued as an orphaned baby by a caring couple in South Carolina.
The couple: Mr. & Mrs. Jean and Barbara Gosselin, now of Orwigsburg, PA. We have
followed and investigated their story for the past several months and we are
appalled that it is still going on. |

In short, Jean and Barb, who
are native Pennsylvanians, took up residence in South Carolina for some time.
During their stay there, these kind folks took in an orphaned gray squirrel,
which is not illegal to do in the state of South Carolina. Upon moving
back to Pennsylvania, they brought the squirrel that had since become a family
pet, with them (as any kind hearted American would do.)
No one cared that they had
this squirrel that was healthy, happy and loved. No one, that is, until Game
Officer William Dingman, answered a call from them complaining about deer
poachers on their private property, private property that we are allowed to own
here in America. However, Mr. Dingman appears to have not only completely
ignored the complaint about the deer poaching, he cited them for possessing
illegal wildlife.
Nutkin has been in hiding for
several months now, because the Pennsylvania Game Commission seems to believe
they should be allowed to take possession of Nutkin and determine her fate after
Jean and Barb have loved and cared for her for the past nine years. Is this the
American way?
So, the case of Nut kin has
been going on for the past six months. |
